Receptionist/Assistant – March 2025

Sam Hawking Property Lawyers is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Full Time Legal Receptionist/ Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and organisational skills, with a keen ability to analyse information effectively. This role is essential in providing support to our legal professionals, ensuring the smooth operation in the reception area while delivering exceptional customer service to clients.

Working hours: Full Time, Mon – Friday – 8:45am – 5:15pm

Main Role to include:

  • Front of house/reception desk, greeting clients and guests
  • Managing the office telephone line, taking messages accurately and passing to appropriate person
  • Filing/file management (including file opening and closing), liaising with our fee earners to open new matters and updating of Client information
  • Drafting engagement letters
  • Word processing/typing and collating correspondence and other documents
  • Managing conference room, visiting room and video conference bookings
  • Handling the office post, date and stamp all letters/documents and distribute individual post to staff
  • Managing new enquiries and allocating work.
  • Dealing with post for all fee-earners.
  • Maintaining reception diary for conference room bookings
  • Archiving client files, managing the archiving records and destruction of files
  • Tending to clients during meetings (drinks and refreshments)
  • Keeping up to date with firm systems, policies and procedures
  • Conducting Identity and Anti-money laundering checks

Required experience/skills:

  • A confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated
  • Flexibility
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good spelling and grammar
  • Polite and good presentation (smartly dressed)

Conveyancing Solicitor/ Licensed Conveyancer in Port TalbotJanuary 2025

We are looking for a Conveyancing Solicitor/Licensed Conveyancer to undertake all aspects of Residential and/or Commercial Conveyancing, based in Port Talbot.

Salary – £30,000-£40,000 3years+ PQE, £40,000 – £50,000 6 years+ PQE

Main Role to include:

  • To undertake fee earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the department
  • Engage with new enquiries face to face as well as via e-mail and telephone
  • Ensure that all client work is dealt with efficiently with high standards of client care at all times
  • Comply with the CLC and SRA regulations
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients and introducers
  • Supervise secretarial support and other immediate support staff as allocated resources
  • Support other fee earners and their caseloads as reasonably required

Required experience/skills

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and make decisions
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing
  • Efficient and well organised, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills particularly with Word, Excel, Outlook and case management systems
  • Maintain a smart appearance and dress code appropriate for the role

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have at least 3 years or more PQE experience
  • Experience of all aspects of residential conveyancing
  • Experience of commercial conveyancing desirable
